British Canoeing head coach Jurg Gotz has been encouraged by the quality on show at the UK Championships at Lea Valley White Water Centre in London.
The event, also serving as trials for the World Cup and world and European championships, was held at the same venue which will be used for the sport at the 2012 Olympic Games.
The national titles were decided on Monday in front of a 5,000-strong crowd and Gotz was pleased with what he saw.
"It's been exciting racing here this weekend. There have been very good performances in extremely difficult conditions," he said.
"The race has run like clockwork and seeing so many spectators is fantastic - it provides the athletes with the environment they get when competing abroad."

Olympic silver medallist David Florence and Richard Hounslow won three races in the canoe double (C2) category, with Rhys Davies and Matt Lister grabbing second and Adam Burgess and Greg Pitt completing the top three
Florence also took victory in the single canoe (C1) category ahead of Mark Proctor and Daniel Goddard.
