Chicago rolls in game one of Eastern finals

League MVP Derrick Rose starred with 28 points as the impressive Chicago Bulls convincingly won game one of the Eastern Conference finals by a score of 103-82 on Sunday. Rose bounced back from committing three early turnovers to lead the home side to victory, hitting three three-pointers as the Bulls converted 10 of 21 such attempts in total. Luol Deng contributed 21 points and Carlos Boozer also added 14 with nine rebounds as Miami's star names LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were put firmly in the shade. Game two of the series will be in Chicago on Wednesday.

Thunder advance

Meanwhile Kevin Durant scored 39 points to fire the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Western Conference finals with a 105-90 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in game seven. Durant, the NBA's scoring champion over the last two seasons, bounced back from a poor performance in game six to delight the home crowd. The Thunder had led by as much as 11 points late in the first half, but saw their lead cut to just three with under five minutes left. However, Durant scored eight points, including two three-pointers, during a 14-2 burst as the Thunder regained control. The Thunder will face the Dallas Mavericks in the Western finals, and they start their seven-game series on Tuesday.
