American in a different league to downhill rivals
Lindsey Vonn secured a second World Cup downhill victory in as many days as she maintained her dominance of the Lake Louise resort.
Winning for the 10th time on the mountain and the 44th in her career, the 27-year-old clocked one minute 51.35 seconds - 1.68 seconds ahead of France's Marie Marchand-Arvier.
It was only slightly less impressive than the day before, when the American had left nearest rival Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein nearly two seconds adrift.
"This course fits me so perfectly," she said. "I have been skiing on it for almost 15 years since I was a kid and I hope to ski on it many more times before I give up skiing.
"The course was rough, there were lots of ruts. It was more challenging and in the middle part, I nearly lost my balance. I was lucky to make it down to the finish without serious problems.
"I don't have that many doubles so this is great."
World champion Elisabeth Goergl of Austria was third while Olympic giant slalom champion Vitkoria Rebensburg confirmed her progress in the discipline with her second fourth place in two days.
Nevertheless victory for Vonn puts her 42 points clear of Rebensburg in the overall standings with 322 points.
The skiers will remain in Alberta for Sunday's super-G.
