American wins for the seventh time this season to extend overall lead
Lindsey Vonn captured her 48th World Cup title when she dominated the first super-combined event of the season in St Moritz.
The American unsurprisingly topped the standings after the downhill run before a solid slalom gave her victory by 0.41 seconds ahead of Tina Maze of Slovenia.
Austria's Nicole Hosp completed the podium which Vonn topped for a seventh time this season.
"I'm really happy, I had two excellent runs today. I was confident before the slalom run and I skied a tactical run knowing that the other top contenders had problems this afternoon," Vonn, who has often struggled in the slalom.
"It's nice to be able to win without pushing too hard."
Her two main rivals after the downhill, Austrian Elisabeth Goergl and German Maria Hoefl-Riesch both faltered out of contention in the slalom section.
Downhill world champion Goergl was on a fast tempo when she missed a gate while World Cup holder Hoefl-Riesch made a huge mistake on the icy slalom course and finished outside the top 20.
With 1,070 points in the World Cup standings, she leads Maze by 302 points while Austrian Marlies Schild is third.
Vonn will be the big favourite in Saturday's downhill while another super-combined takes place on Sunday, this time pairing a Super-G and a slalom.
