Claudia Fragapane and Ruby Harrold finished out of the medals in the women's all-around competition at the World Gymnastics Championships in China.
Fragapane (56.098 points) ended up in 10th, one place ahead of team-mate Harrold (55.615) in Nanning.
They were some way off the pace set by Simone Biles of the United States, who won the gold medal after amassing 60.231 points across the floor, vault, bars and beam competitions.
Romania's Larisa Andreea Iordache won silver with a total score of 59.765, while Olympic team gold medallist Kyla Ross of the United States took bronze on 58.232.
Fragapane will, though, have been buoyed by her performance on the floor where she finished fourth behind Biles, who also produced the best score in the vault.
The Commonwealth Games star - Fragapane won four gold medals in Glasgow - will be back in action on Saturday in the vault final. She also qualified for the floor which takes place on Sunday.
Harrold and Becky Downie will feature in the bars final and in the men's competition Dan Keatings will compete on the pommel horse and Courtney Tulloch in the rings final.
