Men and women to compete together in synchronised swimming

Men and women will be able to compete alongside each other in synchronised swimming duets, following a FINA ruling on mixed-gender events.
The international governing body of swimming gave the rubber stamp to mixed-gender duets in synchronised swimming, as well as mixed-gender diving pairs on both the 3m and 10m boards.
British diver Tom Daley, who has won Commonwealth gold in synchro and well as individual world gold and Olympic bronze, told www.swimming.org: "It's really exciting that there is going to be mixed synchro pairs for diving.
"I think it will be good for audiences and I think the public will really get behind it."
British national performance director Alexei Evangulov said: "The last FINA decision regarding mix events is a great opportunity to widen our sport, to increase popularity and to bring something new and fresh into the sport."
