On Soccer AM...

Image: Akinbiyi: Notts County star

Ade Akinbiyi, Joe Calzaghe, rapper Plan B and the annual Dance Off, all on this week's show!

Fifteen crew members, one studio floor and a track that will blow you away... it's Dance Off time! The crew will be cutting some serious shapes and going all out this Saturday morning in the first Dance Off of the decade. Rocket's withdrawal due to illness means Baby Elvis will hit the floor as the favourite, but he will no doubt face fierce competition from the likes of, Lisa, James and Tubes. If having to show your best moves to the whole nation wasn't bad enough, the crew will also be watched by this week's guests, including Ade Akinbiyi! One of the most powerful and well-travelled strikers in the country, Akinbiyi has played everywhere from Bristol to Texas in a 16-year career, which has also seen him capped by Nigeria. The Notts County striker began life with Norwich City in the early 90s, but after failing to make a real impact at Carrow Road, opted to join Gillingham in 1997. It turned out to be a good move as his relatively short time at the Priestfield Stadium was also the most prolific of his career with 28 goals in just 63 appearances. Moves to Bristol City and Wolves followed, before Leicester paid a club record £5.5million for his services in 2000. However, after a largely unhappy two years at Filbert Street, it was onto pastures new. In March last year he followed in the footsteps of former Premier League stars including, David Beckham, Freddie Ljungberg and Juan Pablo Angel by opting for a move to America. Akinbiyi joined Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo, but has since returned to England - signing for League Two outfit Notts County. We'll be asking him about life at Meadow Lane, his MLS experience, and what he plans to do once he retires.

Undefeated

Joining him on the orange sofas will be Britain's only undefeated boxing world champion, Joe Calzaghe! The longest-reigning world champion of the modern era, Calzaghe will be making his Soccer AM debut on Saturday. Born in Hammersmith, London in 1972 to an Italian father and Welsh mother, Calzaghe finished his career with an incredible fight record of 46-0, 32 of which by TKO. Notable wins over Chris Eubank, Jeff Lacy, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. catapulted Calzaghe to superstar status and in 2003 he was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, and was further rewarded with a CBE in 2008. Trained by his father Enzo at the Newbridge boxing club in South Wales, the former Ring Magazine light-heavyweight champion dominated the 168-pound super middleweight division before announcing his retirement last February. We'll be reflecting on an amazing career and finding out what the future holds for him.
Acclaim
As ever our final guest will be adding a bit of a musical spice to the show and this week it's the turn of East London rapper, singer and actor Plan B! In 2006 Plan B, real name Ben Drew, received critical acclaim for his debut album Who Needs Actions When You Got Words. His first top 10 single was as a featured artist on End Credits by Chase & Status, while he has also made successful moves into the world of film with roles in Adulthood and Harry Brown. His directorial debut, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, is due to be released later this year along with his second studio album of the same name, so he'll have lots to discuss with Helen and Max! That completes this week's guests in the studio, but there's more because weather permitting Andy Burton will be joining us live from the KC Stadium ahead of Hull's clash with Chelsea. Plus, we've got all your favourites, including Skill Skool with Wycombe, Rushden Roulette, Itso Facto, Crossbar Challenge in the snow with Barnet, the Coca Cola Player of the Month Awards and Ray Clemence's Team Mates Gold! So tune in to watch all the gang, plus our fans of the week, Portsmouth, 9am, Saturday on Sky Sports 1 and Sky1.
