DJ Campbell insists Blackpool will continue to prove people wrong right up until the end of the season.
The Tangerines are currently 16th in the top flight after last year's fairytale promotion and have continually defied their tag as pre-season relegation favourites.
Wins at Newcastle and Liverpool were the highlights of a storming start to the season, but a run of six games without a win has seen Ian Holloway's side slip into 16th place, two points above the drop zone.
A home draw against Aston Villa ended a run of five straight defeats and Campbell, who has netted eight goals this season, says they have what it takes to survive.
"Staying in the league is the main thing," he told Soccer AM.
"We've had a tough time recently, but it picked up against Villa, so fingers crossed we can do it.
"All the lads have been great this year. We've dug in deep when we've needed to and we all want to be here. We all want to play for Blackpool.
"At the start of the season obviously we wanted to try and stay in the league. People wrote us off before the season even started, saying we're not even going to get 10 points.
"People probably looked at Blackpool and thought 'we're going to get three points against them every week', but we've got 29 points now and we're doing well.
"It's been tough in the last few games, but we've dug in and hopefully the luck's changed now. We got a point against Villa at home and hopefully we can get a few more wins."
Promotion
Campbell scored a hat-trick in the Championship play-off semi final against Nottingham Forest to help Blackpool reach Wembley, where they defeated Cardiff to earn promotion.
However, Campbell was only on loan at Bloomfield Road and returned to parent club Leicester for pre-season training, unsure if he would be able to secure a permanent switch.
And he says he is grateful to former Foxes boss Paulo Sousa for allowing him to move to Blackpool shortly after the season had started and realise his ambition of returning to the Premier League more than four years after playing in the top flight for Birmingham.
"I wanted to be in the Prem, but I was at Leicester," he explained.
"But thankfully I had a good manager in Paulo Sousa and he helped me a lot and I finally went back to Blackpool.
"I knew that was the only place I wanted to go. After the two loan periods I had there I knew the lads and they're a great bunch of lads.
"That's where I wanted to go and thankfully the gaffer sorted it out."
