Spector dropped by Soccer AM to talk about their new single and recruiting band members on Facebook!

Spector bassist recruited using social media

Spector frontman Fred Macpherson has revealed bassist Tom Shickle was recruited because of the number of female friends he had on Facebook! The London-based five-piece have been lauded by critics over the last six months and have been included on the BBC Sound of 2012 poll. However, the band only formed a year ago, shortly after Shickle was brought on board via the social media website. "I was putting the message out on those social networking sites that we've been reading so much about recently," Macpherson told Soccer AM. "He knew loads of girls and I only know about two so I thought that would be a good in and then it turned out he played bass as well." The boy's new single 'Chevy Thunder' was played during this week's Mitre Goal of the Year goal wrap, but in case you missed it click here. Their sound has been described as somewhere "between Roxy Music and the Strokes, the Killers and Kanye West, Pulp and R&B and Frank Sinatra", but we'll let you make up your own mind on that one. What we do know is that will be headlining a UK tour this month, before going off to support Florence and The Machine in March. Macpherson was joined on the orange sofas by Shickle and drummer Danny Blandy and to hear what else they had to say, just click on the video at the top of the page.
