On Soccer AM...

Image: Wright: capped 33 times

Ian Wright, actor Paul McGann and Mel B aka 'Scary Spice' are all on this week's show!

Join Helen, Man and the rest of the gang, for goals, gags and great guests!

Soccer AM is the only place to start your weekend and you'll have no problem getting out of bed when you hear what we've got in store for you! Joining Helen, Max and the rest of the gang in the studio first this Saturday morning will be Ian Wright! Arsenal's second-highest goal scorer of all-time, Wright was idolised by the Gunners' fans, helping the club to a host of silverware, including a League and FA Cup double in 1998, during his seven-year spell in north London. A relative latecomer to the game, Wright was spotted by a Crystal Palace scout at the ripe old age of 21, signing professional terms just three months shy of his 22nd birthday. A desire to make up for lost time combined with a healthy appetite for goals saw Wright hit the ground running with the Eagles, finding the back of the net nine times in his first campaign. 17 goals in 253 starts over six seasons had the country's top sides sitting up and taking notice, but it was Arsenal who swooped in with a £2.5 million bid in 1991 to take him to Highbury. Capped 33 times by England, Wright hung up his boots in 2000, following spells with West Ham, Celtic and Burnley, before embarking on a career in the media, as both a presenter and a pundit. The 48-year-old remains a passionate Arsenal fan and we'll be getting his take on the club's new goalscoring machine, Robin van Persie, as well as manager Arsene Wenger and the club's chances of clinching a top-four spot this season.

Doctor

Next down the tunnel will be British actor Paul McGann! Born in Liverpool, McGann's has had a successful career spanning two decades with notable work in both TV and film, including the brilliant black comedy, Withnail and I. One of six siblings, he was encouraged from an early age to develop his talents and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, while all three of his brothers are also actors. The eighth Doctor Who, McGann has recently admitted he would be open to returning to one of his most famous roles for the show's 50th anniversary next year. The 51-year-old's only outing as the Doctor came in the 1996 television movie, and we'll be finding out just how interested he is in reprising the role.

Spice

And finally, adding a bit of spice to the line-up will be someone who needs no introduction, Mel B! One-fifth of the most successful all-female group ever, Mel enjoyed huge success with the global phenomenon that was the Spice Girls. With over 75 million records sold worldwide, a box-office film, and a debut album which reached number one in 19 countries, there are few people on this planet who are unaware of Posh, Ginger, Baby, Sporty and, of course, Scary! The 36-year-old mother of three has also enjoyed success as a solo artist with two top five singles and a number one hit with I Want You Back in 1998, while her own reality TV series, Mel B: It's A Scary World, launched in September 2010. Born and raised in Leeds, Mel is currently living it up in Sydney where she has appeared on the judging panel of the Australian X Factor, while there have been suggestions that the Spice Girls could reform later this year for The Queen's Jubilee concert. As ever Helen and Max will be putting the questions to our guests and they'll be finding out if there's any truth behind the rumours and what Mel is doing back in the country. That wraps up this week's fantastic line-up on the sofa, but as ever there is lots more to look forward to, including Coventry fans in the Luther Blissett stand and a Tubes Meets with Peter Crouch Plus, Frankie Fryer heads to Cheltenham for Away Days, Leicester take on the Crossbar Challenge, Swansea duo Danny Graham and Neil Taylor are the subject of Team Mates and #Rocket will be on the @Socceram twitter account live throughout the show! So tune in for Soccer AM, 10am Saturday, Sky Sports 1 HD and Sky1 HD.
