Man Utd have 'psychological advantage', says Beesley

Manchester United are in pole position to claim their 20th league title and Max Beesley says it proves you can never write off Sir Alex Ferguson's men. The actor and lifelong Red admits he was less than confident of his sides' chances five months ago when Manchester City had opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. But he says he should've known better than to panic and thinks United will continue to dominate English football because of the psychological advantage their success has given them over their closest rivals. "I think we'll be alright now," he told Soccer AM. "I think we'll probably beat QPR 2-0 or 3-0 and City have got a tough game with Arsenal. "I was in a bit of a panic when they were five and seven points ahead of us. I did bottle it a little bit, but you can never write off the Reds you see, because they've got a psychological approach to the game as well. "They're so used to winning I think it gives them a psychological advantage over some of the other teams when it comes down to the nails, right now, and I think that's probably why we'll win the league."

LA

The Manchester-born actor is best known for his work in British TV series' such as Hotel Babylon, Survivors and Mad Dogs, but he now looks set to take Hollywood by storm having recently moved to LA. But unfortunately that's meant he's had to give up his season ticket! He said: "I had waited ages and I couldn't get them for years. In the early '90s and mid-90s they were dead hard to get hold of. "You can't get them now if you put your mind to it, but I had two and I ended up having to give them up because I'm in Los Angles (now), which was a downer. "But my mate out there is a Scouser and he's a Liverpool fan and we both get up and get down to the pub (to watch the football) and have a very early morning pint of larger!" In December Beesley landed a role in the indie thriller 'Pawn', alongside Oscar-winner Forest Whittaker, but he is back in the UK having just filmed the third series of Mad Dogs.
Dream job
Created by Cris Cole, the psychological drama with a dark sense of humour also stars well known British actors John Simm, Marc Warren and Philip Glenister and he revealed the cast more than make up for the long hours shooting. He continued: "I've just done a picture out (in LA) at Christmas, which was lovely and then came back here to do another Mad Dogs. "The lads are all great and only last week we finished a 12-week shoot in South Africa and they are 15-hour days, but it's still great fun with the boys and because we all get on so well it's a dream job really." A talented musician, the 40-year-old - who played piano and percussion for Take That and Robbie Williams - also revealed he was set to record his own album next week. "I was a session musician for many years and my best mate said to me the other day 'we should just bang an album out shouldn't we' and I said 'yeah'. So I'm going to start next week. "It's sort of going to be a '60s John Barry-esque type album and then I might try and get people in that I've worked with over the years."
