Coventry hand international one-month trial at Skydome
Coventry Blaze have signed South Korea international Woo-Sang Park on a one-month trial.
The 26-year-old forward, from Seoul, comes to the Skydome on the recommendation of recent signing Dustin Wood - the pair having been team-mates at Anyang Halla in the Asia League for the last two seasons.
Park, who attended the New York Islanders prospect camp in 2005 and was invited to American Hockey League side Springfield Falcons' training camp last year, posted 33 points in 26 games across six seasons in the South Korea League before joining Halla.
In three seasons for them, Park registered 119 points (32 goals and 87 assists) in 107 matches, winning the league twice.
Danger
Park has also represented his country at Under-18 level and has been part of the senior side for the past five World Championship campaigns, winning a bronze medal in Division One earlier this year.
Blaze coach Paul Thompson said: "Dustin Wood played on the same team as Woo-Sang for the last couple of years and he says he has got all the attributes to help us.
"Obviously it is going to be a different culture so we will try to help him settle as quickly as we can.
"I know a little bit about him too having come across him at international level. I remember he stood out and was a danger against us a couple of years ago.
"He is a big centreman who hits well and has a high skill level. He likes to play a North American style and he is ready for the challenge.
"I am excited to have him with us and I am looking forward to seeing what he has got. Hopefully everything goes well during his month with us and we can have him for the rest of the season."
