Coventry's purple patch continues with victory over Clan

Coventry Blaze cruised to a 5-1 home win against Braehead Clan to claim their sixth straight Elite League victory. Clan, who were coming off a tough road loss to Nottingham, made the brighter start and were ahead after just 93 seconds when skipper Jordan Krestanovich found the net. Blaze eventually hit their stride and levelled the contest at 8.52 through Shea Guthrie before the same player edged them ahead on a powerplay at 13.42. There was no change to the scoreline after a tight second period but Coventry killed off the game in the third thanks to a strike from Greg Owen and a double from Matic Kralj. Elsewhere, Hull Stingrays claimed a first home win in four as they saw off the Edinburgh Capitals 5-1 to move within three points of their beaten opponents in the table. The Capitals have now won only one of their last seven and went behind in the opening period when Jereme Tendler, who ended with a 2+1, scored on a delayed penalty. Edinburgh got back on terms through Jiri Hanzal at 15.22 and the contest remained tight in the second period, with Jason Silverthorn giving Hull the lead on a 5-on-3 powerplay. The score remained that way until Tendler struck again at 54.34, while Dominic Osman added a fourth at 57.35 and player/coach Sylvain Cloutier completed the scoring at 58.22.
