Dwight King scored a third-period winners to put the Kings on the brink of the Stanley Cup final.
Daymond Langkow put the Coyotes ahead 1:03 into the second period in Los Angeles, but Anze Kopitar levelled for the Kings barely two minutes later.
King then scored the winning goal for his side's eighth consecutive win, continuing the eighth seeds' remarkable post-season run.
The Kings can clinch their place when they again have home advantage in game four on Sunday.
