On SmackDown, World Heavyweight Champion Edge paired with Christian to defeat the team of Alberto Del Rio and his NXT Rookie Brodus Clay.

As Edge and Del Rio's WrestleMania showdown draws ever closer, the two battled in tag team action on this week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Reunited for the first time in more than a decade, Edge and Christian used their veteran skills to notch an all-important momentum gathering victory. After Captain Charisma stunned Clay with a Tornado DDT, The Ultimate Opportunist followed up with a hard-hitting flying elbow.

Triple H showed up on the blue brand to respond to The Deadman's challenge of a No Holds Barred match at next month's WrestleMania. The Game insisted he would relish the stipulation before accepting the proposed No Holds Barred Match and then confidently predicted victory over The Phenom.

John Cena also came to SmackDown this week to inform fans that WWE Champion The Miz made the biggest mistake of his career when he blindsided Cena and hit him with the People's Elbow this past Monday on Raw.

When Michael Cole antagonised Cena about events, all hell broke loose. In the end, Cole's WrestleMania trainer, Jack Swagger, was met with the full force of an Attitude Adjustment.

After a 619 and splash combo, Rey Mysterio defeated The Sinister Scotsman Drew McIntyre. Following the match, Cody Rhodes emerged, wanting an answer to his WrestleMania challenge. Mysterio heartily accepted.

Also on this week's edition of SmackDown, Kane paid a painful price when he refused to join The Corre. The group of renegades brutally attacked him, resulting in an immediate disqualification in his bout with Englishman Wade Barrett. Before the carnage ensued, Big Show rushed to the ring in a bid to fend off the vicious attackers.

Despite being banned from ringside by Teddy Long, Justin Gabriel and Ezekiel Jackson couldn't hold back from joining the fray, launching a brutal four-on-one assault against Kane.

After watching the assault from outside the ropes, Big Show eventually got back in the ring to help out his partner. The World's Largest Athlete first blasted Jackson with a steel chair across the back.

Then, as Barrett brandished the chair, Show drove the cold steel back into his face with a massive right hand punch. As The Corre scattered, Show slammed Kane across the back with the steel chair - which could be considered as payback for Kane's chair shot in their one-on-one match last week.
