WWE Main Event: Dolph Ziggler beaten by friend and Intercontinental Champion Big E

Multi-Diva dust-up also contested, with Tamina picking up the win

Dolph Ziggler earned an Intercontinental Championship shot on WWE Main Event - but couldn't quite seize the title.

The Show-Off won a Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's match at the beginning of the show, though he came up just short at the end of it following a dazzling donnybrook with Big E.

Christian secured an opportunity to face Big E for his strap on Monday's edition of Raw but a mild concussion ruled him out of competing on Tuesday, leaving the champion in need of a new challenger.

Coffee house barista extraordinaire Alberto Del Rio finds himself at odds with a very unsatisfied customer in Damien Sandow.

Ziggler, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio had been bested by Captain Charisma in a Fatal Four-Way on the red brand, so were given another chance to collect a crack at gold on Main Event.

Ziggler emerged victorious, pinning Del Rio after Mexico's Great Export had attempted to execute a Backstabber on Sheamus, setting up a duel with long-time friend - and occasional enemy - Big E.

Acquaintances

And while the bleach-blonde Superstar's swiftness caused his larger rival concerns, Big E prevailed by kicking out of a Famouser and hitting Ziggler with the Big Ending, before hugging his beaten pal.

Big E and Ziggler will get to renew acquaintances, however, in the 30-man Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, a night on which myriad females will try to prise AJ Lee's Divas Title.
