WWE NXT results: Finn Balor debuts and helps Hideo Itami tackle The Ascension

Finn Balor made a big impact on his NXT debut, helping Hideo Itami crush The Ascension.

Irish wrestler Balor headed to the ring as Itami’s back up after the Japanese grappler was summoned for a face-to-face showdown by Ascension stars Konnor and Viktor.

Konnor and Viktor, the longest reining NXT Tag Tam Champions in history, had dominated Itami over recent weeks in a series of vicious two-on-one assaults.

But they could not quell the combined efforts of Itami and Balor, who smashed their rivals into the mat before performing a pair of picture-perfect stomps on Konnor.

Sami Zayn, meanwhile, learned he will face Adrian Neville for the NXT Title next Thursday.

The French-Canadian challenged Neville after dispatching Tyler Breeze with a Helluva Kick and after both the champion and NXT General Manager William Regal agreed, the titanic title match was made official.

Elsewhere, Tyson Kidd followed up his wins over Sheamus on Monday Night Raw and Zayn on Tuesday’s Main Event by forcing Dash Wilder to tap out to the Sharpshooter.

Plus, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks teamed up to defeat the enemies-turned-friends duo of Bayley and NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte, with Banks’ roll-up on Bayley securing the win.
