Team GB aiming for success
British judo head coach Patrick Roux is confident his 15-strong team can lay down a marker for the World Championships at the European Cup event in Hamburg.
With August's showpiece in Paris fast approaching, the squad are aiming to stay on course for their ultimate goal of delivering medals at the London Olympics.
The likes of Euan Burton, ranked in the world's top six at under-80kgs, Sophie Cox and Colin Oates, who both claimed bronze at the 2011 European Championships, will all be hoping to continue their momentum with positive displays.
Karina Bryant, the 2009 world silver medallist, 2010 European Under-23 champion Ashley McKenzie and Craig Fallon, hoping to compete at his third Olympics next year, are also in the squad which will remain in Germany for a four-day training camp.
And Roux believes the British contingent can make an impression.
"We can say that it is a good marker towards the World Championships in Paris, but Hamburg is just a preparation for the GB team, not an objective," he said.
"Of course for some players individually it is different because they need to perform to win their position in the GB team."
