Honda Racing extend dominant run in qualifying
Gordon Shedden stormed to pole position at Thruxton as Honda Racing's domination of qualifying in this season's British Touring Car Championship continued. The Scot set a time of 1:17.004 to pip Andrew Jordan by just six hundredths of a second, meaning Honda have now taken pole position at every race this year. "I'm really pleased with the performance. It's so tight at the top I had to give it everything," he told Sky Sports. Shedden's teammate Matt Neal was third in the second Civic, and Tom Chilton was a season's-best fourth for Ford. Despite having their boost cut since the previous race, the turbo cars still seem to be significantly quicker - Jason Plato in fifth for Chevrolet is the only normally aspirated car in the top 10. Tom Onslow-Cole continued to impress in the VW Golf. Having scored the team's first points last time out at Donington, he give them their highest ever grid slot by qualifying sixth. However, doubts remain over the durability of the car after it came to a stop on the circuit after just nine laps. Points leader James Nash struggled with maximum ballast of 45kg on his Vauxhall Vectra and could only manage tenth. Qualifying results: 1. Gordon Shedden (GBR) - Honda Civic - 1:17.0042.
