Sky Sports scholar and 400m hurdler will get taste for Olympics next month
Perri Shakes-Drayton has been named among more than 140 athletes due to compete at the Olympic test event next month.
The
Sky Sports scholar will run in the Olympic stadium in the event which runs from May 4-7, taking place alongside the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships.
The 400 metres hurdler, who has been training out in LA, said: "I am really excited to be able to run in the Olympic venue ahead of the Games this summer.
"It will be great experience and will give us a taste of competing in front of a home crowd in London.
"I have been out in LA training and this will give me a good opportunity to see how well that went and where I am ahead of the summer."
Charles Van Commenee, UKA head coach, said on Thursday: "Preparing our athletes for what to expect when they walk into the Olympic Stadium at Games time is almost impossible.
"The noise of an Olympic Stadium when a home favourite walks out just cannot be replicated. This test event will form an important part of some athletes' preparation."
