Sky Sports has confirmed the commentary team for its live coverage of the World Twenty20 Cup.

Sky Sports has confirmed the commentary team for its live coverage of this month's ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007. Some of the biggest names in cricket will be part of Sky's coverage of every match, beginning with the opener between hosts South Africa and the West Indies in Johannesburg on Tuesday 11th September, 4.30pm, Sky Sports 1. The commentary line-up in South Africa includes Nasser Hussain, David Lloyd, Michael Slater, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Ian Chappell and Ian Bishop. Sky's coverage will be presented by Ian Ward and Charles Colvile, who will be joined in the studio by the likes of Nick Knight, Jimmy Adams, Paul Nixon, Dominic Cork, Mark Ramprakash, Rob Key and Ian Harvey. The ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 is the first ever international twenty-overs-a-side tournament and will feature all the major Test playing nations. Such is the anticipation of the event that over 22,000 tickets were sold on the first day of sale. The tournament runs from the 11 - 24 September in South Africa, with matches taking place at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Kingsmead Stadium in Durban and Newlands in Cape Town. The final will be in Johannesburg on 24 September.

Explosive event

Paul King, Sky Sports' producer of cricket, said: "This event provides us with explosive cricket featuring the world's best players. I'm sure this mouth-watering festival of rapid-fire action will appeal not just to cricket fans, but followers of other sports, with start times throughout the day and early evening." The 12 teams will be split into four groups of three teams that will meet each other in a round-robin format. The two best teams in each group will qualify for the Super Eight stage, with the top four progressing through to the semi finals and the final. England have been drawn in the same group as Australia and Zimbabwe, meaning a group stage clash with Ricky Ponting's men on 14 September in Cape Town. They play Zimbabwe a day earlier at the same venue. Sky Sports has screened Twenty20 cricket since the launch of the Twenty20 Cup by the ECB in 2003. The broadcaster has shown the competition live each summer since, together with international matches involving England and other national sides. The ICC World Twenty20 South Africa 2007 will be part of another busy winter of live cricket for Sky Sports. England's tours of Sri Lanka and New Zealand will be exclusively live, Sky's 19th consecutive winter of live England cricket, along with action from India, Australia and South Africa.
