Great Britain took their medal tally to 28 at the IPC World Championships in Doha as Jonathan Broom-Edwards secured silver in the T44 high jump on the penultimate day of competition.

The 27-year-old cleared a height of 2.05 metres but had three fouls at 2.11m to finish behind Poland's Maciej Lepiato and claim a third successive silver medal at a major championship.

Broom-Edwards said: "I am a little disappointed considering the shape I'm in and all the hard work that's gone into the build-up to this competition.

"I've got a fantastic team behind me, it just didn't happen today."

Lepiato went on to set a new world record of 2.18m but Broom-Edwards is ready to rise to the challenge set by his rival at the Paralympics in Rio.

"Having Lepiato that little bit ahead of me at the moment is pushing me, but I've got to make sure I don't let that hinder me," he said. "But 100 per cent there is fire in the belly going into next year."
