British Open champion Laura Massaro wants to reclaim top spot in world squash rankings

Laura Massaro hopes her historic win at the British Open squash tournament can help her make a charge towards regaining the world No 1 spot.
Former world champion Massaro, 33, beat compatriot Sarah-Jane Perry in Sunday's final at Hull's Airco Arena to become the first Englishwoman since Janet Morgan in 1951 to win two British Open titles.
Three-time Commonwealth Games silver medallist Massaro reached top spot in the world rankings in 2015 and hopes she can once again reach the summit before she retires.
"It would be unbelievable [to be the No 1 player in the world again], Massaro told Tuesday's Sportswomen show on Sky Sports News HQ.
"The No 1 spot was the icing on the cake for me after already winning a British Open and a World Championships.
"With [Malaysian ace] Nicol David dominating the sport for nine years I did think that maybe it was not going to happen and to get it was an unbelievable feeling.
"Hopefully that British Open win can get me up the rankings and a little bit closer to the No 1 spot and if I could get it again before my career is out it would be amazing so I'm aiming for that and I will see how the next season goes."
