Strictly Come Dancing winner Alesha Dixon told Soccer AM she won't be taking up ballroom dancing professionally.
Strictly Come Dancing queen Alesha Dixon was back on her favourite show to reveal she wouldn't be giving up her day job despite winning the reality TV dancing show. The singer and her partner Matthew Cutler defeated Eastenders actor Matt D'Angelo and Flavia Cacace in the final of the ballroom series earning rave reviews from the judges. Dixon - a former member of girl group Mis-teeq - admitted that although she loved one particular aspect of ballroom dancing she would now be concentrating on her Music career. "Oh there was so much bumping and grinding going on," she said. "I loved it. I was like come on you're not groping me enough!" The judges were clearly in awe of Dixon throughout the series telling her she was good enough to become a professional, but Dixon was not convinced: "I doubt that, but it's nice of them to say it. I'll go back to music and get back to doing what I do. "As far as ballroom goes I'd love to have another go with Matt, maybe go back on the show next year, but no i can't do it professionally." A lack of any formal dance training and a simple love for dancing was what motivated her to join the series according to Dixon, but so convinced she wouldn't win it she opted to bet on the opposition. "I love dancing, that's it really," she explained. "I never went to stage school, I never had dance class lessons when i was younger and always just wondered how well i could do if i had the training. So that was the main reason for doing it. "I was convinced and was going to put a bet on it being an all boy final because it has been in the last two years with Ramps (Mark Ramprakash) and Darren Gough doing so well. "So i just thought it would go that way again - that the girls would all vote for the cute boys - and i was just happy to be there." Despite the gruelling 12 hours a day of training and all the bumps and bruises that go with it she admitted there were plenty of laughs along the way as well, be it rugby union player Kenny Logan's kilt or former model Penny Lancaster's unusual mothering. "I love Kenny, the Logan's are ledge! I relied on Kenny for the banter because he was always cracking the jokes and wasn't taking it to seriously and you need someone like that, he was fantastic. "And I've got to give him credit as well, how brave was he to put that kilt on...or nuts!" "Obviously everybody used to get nervous before a live show so she'd always be quite motherly and come up to us all and say 'would you like some apple juice?' but obviously it was alcohol! "So that was always really nice because she was looking after us...or she was trying to take us out! I didn't' think of it like that, maybe that's what she was doing!"
