Peter Manley says the current Premier League is the most open tournament yet, and hopes to make the top four this time around after a morale-boosting victory over Phil Taylor last week. 'One Dart' had not beaten Taylor in a televised event since 1999 before last week's convincing 8-3 success over the defending Premier League champion in Coventry. Manley was thrilled with finally exacting some revenge for the years of defeats, including two World Championship final whitewashes. Whilst 'The Power' has been struggling badly with three defeats in four games, Manley has begun his campaign in decent form and has a win and two draws from four games.

Form

Manley has played better than those results suggest, but he is still fifth in the table and well in contention heading into week five of the tournament in Bournemouth. "My finishing has been good right the way through so far," said Manley. "I should have probably won one of the first two games and Barney got away with it because I missed a couple of times and he went on to win. "But it's the most open Premier League ever and I'd love to be in the top four after 14 weeks. "Every week's a test and at the moment I'm coming through it but I've got Adrian Lewis this week and he has started off well too." Manley takes on Lewis in Bournemouth on the back of one of his best wins for some time - finally beating Taylor in a major event. "In that time, I've lost three times in the World Championship final without taking a set off him," Manley added.
Power
"He's a machine, the best player there has ever been and probably ever will be but it's possibly the first time he has played a relaxed Peter Manley and enjoying his darts again. "That's all I want to do, enjoy my darts and get back to loving the game again, rather than it being a chore." Manley also enjoyed his first 180 in the tournament against Taylor last week, and he has promised more heavy scoring after finally hitting a maximum. "I practised the night before Coventry and hit nine 180s, and the people I was with reminded me I'd not hit one in the Premier League. "I'd hit so many 140s and a couple of times in the early legs against Phil I had two darts in and was thinking about it. "Now the first one's in they are going to have to watch me - I'll hit a few now."
