Dyer sets eyes on Europe

Image: Dyer: or is it Mr Chairman?

Danny Dyer told Soccer AM he expects West Ham to qualify for next season's UEFA Cup.

Actor and all round London hard man Danny Dyer told Soccer AM he expects West Ham to clinch a UEFA Cup place this season. The actor, who represented his beloved Hammers during Sky One's Premier League All Stars at the end of last year, 'played it cool' as he shared the sofa with West Ham legend Julian Dicks and praised Alan Curbishley's side for showing spirit this season. "I think we'll definitely make Europe, I've gotta say that," he said. "We've had a nightmare with these injuries and it has been absolutely unbelievable but I think they've showed a bit of spirit this season and I think Curbishley has come to the front for us. "I wasn't sure about Curbishley at first, but I've gotta hold my hands up and say he's doing his job. Fellow thespian Ray Winstone also follows the men in claret and blue, but Dyer admitted there were downsides to being invited to watch the game in luxury from Winstone's box. "When Raymundo invites us in there it is always nice, it's just that once you've had a taste of life in the box, it's hard to go back! Dyer was joined on the sofa by his good friend and fellow actor Tamer Hassan and he revealed that the actors, who co-starred in The Football Factory together, owned their own football club, although Dyer seemed less than convinced about his role as chairman of Greenwich Borough FC. "He's the chairman and I've moved upstairs into the job of President," said Hassan. "I'm going to hold my hands up," said Dyer. "He's put it on me this chairman thing! I know nothing about being a chairman. I can just about tie my shoelaces let alone start running a club! "No, I love the club though and they're a cracking side as well."
