Newcastle Vipers booked their place in the last four of the Elite League play-offs after a dramatic win over Belfast Giants.
Steelers, Capitals and Devils also progress
Newcastle Vipers booked their place in the last four of the Elite League play-offs after a dramatic quarter-final penalty shootout win over Belfast Giants.
The result was hard to take for the Northern Irish side after they overcame a 5-3 deficit from Saturday's first leg to win 3-1 away from home and level matters at 6-6 after a goalless extra period.
Peter Campbell, Shaun Sutter and Scott Cameron were on target for the Giants in normal time, but Campbell and player/coach Ed Courtenay missed from the spot as the visitors crashed out.
Sheffield Steelers edged out
Manchester Pheonix 9-8 on aggregate after a tightly-contested second leg ended 4-4 at the Altrincham Ice Dome.
Scraped through
Joe MacMillan put the Steelers 4-3 ahead on the night, and although Sean Starke gave the hosts a chance of forcing overtime - Phoenix failed to grab an all important winning goal.
Another draw took place at
Cardiff where the Devils drew 3-3 on the night and as a result scraped past
Nottingham Panthers 7-6 on aggregate.
Cardiff won the first leg in Nottingham 4-3 and progress to the next stage but it took two late goals from Sylvain Deschatelets to knock out the Panthers.
Treble-chasing
Coventry Blaze beat
Edinburgh Capitals for the second time in two days to take a 4-2 aggregate win after their 3-2 second leg triumph.
Barrie Moore, Jonathan Weaver and Danny Stewart scored for Blaze, with Dough Christiansen and Colin Hemingway replying for the Scots.
