It's love for Lock

Sean Lock says his relationship with Chelsea is based on love, not money. Top comedian Lock is a life-long supporter of the Stamford Bridge club and gets frustrated when people suggest he is a glory-hunter who only started watching the Blues when Roman Abramovich arrived and started splashing millions of pounds on big-name players. He admits Chelsea have become the most hated team in the country, but he's increasingly frustrated by those who question his commitment to the cause. He told Andy and Helen: "It was my birthday on Tuesday and I went to a pub with some friends of mine for a drink. "None of my friends who turned up were Liverpool fans, but all of them wanted Liverpool to win - even the ones that don't like football! We've become the new Manchester United. "Not only do people hate Chelsea, but they're suspicious of Chelsea fans. Every time I say I'm a Chelsea fan, someone asks 'how long for?' "I'm always tempted to say 'just a couple of weeks since all the money came in' - just to see the look on their faces. "I think it's rude. It's like going to a wedding where a man was marrying a rich woman and going up to him and saying 'do you love her?" Lock was so keen to watch Chelsea's potential Premier League decider against Manchester United that he'd ordered a bike to whisk him to the match as soon as Soccer AM had finished recording. And even though he was confident of getting to the ground in time, he still didn't expect to see the kick-off because of the old-fashioned gates at Stamford Bridge. "I've got a bike taking me to the game straight after the show - hopefully it's a motor-powered one," he added. "I've got 45 minutes to get there, but there's no point because I'm sitting in the East Stand and they've only got about eight turnstiles from the days when they didn't expect that many people to turn up. "You have to get there 40 minutes before the game, just to get there in time for kick-off, it's ridiculous. You'd think with all this money they could just knock a whole in the wall!" The Blues are battling for glory in both the Premier League and the Champions League this season, but Lock knows which one he'd rather win. "I think the Premier League is the major competition at the moment," he concluded. "I'd rather win the Premier League because I'd like to see all the veins on Ferguson's face join up. He'd be horrified. "For the whole season, everyone's been saying either United or Arsenal would win it, so it would be good to see all of the football pundits in a state of disbelief."
