Fontaine's fuming

Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine told Soccer AM why he wasn't at Darren Byfield's wedding!

Invites go 'missing' in the post

They may have looked like the best of friends on the Soccer AM sofas, but Liam Fontaine and Marvin Elliott were less than happy with Darren Byfield! The trio, who were all team mates at Bristol City until Byfield joined Doncaster in July, revealed there was some underlining issues between the group after Fontaine and Elliott failed to receive their invites to Byfield's wedding! The Bristol City duo were looking forward to their good friends big day, but were bemused when the invitations didn't turn up despite assurances from the Donny striker that they were in the post. Fontaine and Elliott decided enough was enough and it was time to let the world know exactly what happened! "The wedding was actually a really beautiful day, but it was the experience of the wedding and the invite thing (that wasn't)," said Elliott. "I actually lived with Darren for six months and I didn't get an invite to the wedding! "I did actually go to the wedding and I took my mum and dad. But my mum kept asking me, 'Marvin are you sure we're invited because we haven't got a invite' and I said mum don't worry we're going. "I was phoning Darren everyday and saying 'Daz I haven't got the invite' and he was like 'Marv's they're in the post'. So the day of the wedding I get a call from him and he says 'Marv, your names on the door'!" Bywfield, who got married to his long-term girlfriend and pop star Jamelia, looked on uncomfortably as he listened to Elliott describe the events that occurred in the build up to the wedding.

Livid

But if Elliott was annoyed at the lack of an invite then Fontaine was absolutely livid that he didn't get one and before Byfield could present his defence Fontaine was off on a rant, explaining why he didn't make the wedding. "I got told by By's that he wasn't going to invite all the lads to the actual wedding, but that I can come to the church - and I felt special. "So I go out and get a nice suit and tie, but then we're coming up to the wedding and I'm in Cyprus on holiday and I'm ringing him and asking ' have you got my invitations yet and he says no. "Then he's texting all the lads and asking them for their address so he can post them the invites, but nothing came. "So I wasted money on a suit but I sent him a little text on the day to say congratulation, but I missed out on the wedding."
