Rocket is back after eight days in Kenya and reveals it was one of the most memorable weeks of his life.
An unforgettable experience
It's fair to say that I've just had one of the most amazing weeks of my life.
Last Monday I flew out to Kenya to join the Royal Air Force in Mombassa on a charity mission and it really was an eye opening experience.
With the help of the Glad's House charity - members of the RAF, including their football coach John McGlasson, went to Mombassa with the aim to improve local coaching and give youngsters the opportunity to come learn and play.
I was there with my cameraman Duncan to film everything that was going on and I even managed to get a Skill Skool and a Crossbar challenge recorded with some of the kids who were brilliant.
It was my first time in Kenya and in truth some of what I saw was pretty hard to take, in particular the number of kids who were homeless and struggling to survive on a daily basis.
But it was equally rewarding watching Cliff, who's the head of Glad's House, and the RAF boys at work and hopefully they can make a difference.
After landing on the Tuesday, Cliff picked us up at the airport and drove us to Mogongo which was the district in Mombassa where the coaching and training was taking place.
We didn't do any filming on the first day as we wanted to get settled in and also get a feel for our surroundings, but on Wednesday it was back to work.
We interviewed John about his training schemes and what he had set up and he also told us how he got involved through watching Soccer AM, after our shirt appeal.
I also interviewed Cliff and his daughter Victoria about what they hope to achieve in Mogongo.
They told me that there aim was to buy a house there so they have a base which would enable them to start up various workshops designed to give those unemployed the skills required to get work.
The rest of the days pretty much followed suit and we got into a routine of getting up at about 6am everyday and going to bed after 11pm.
The Skill Skool was great as well and one of the kids who took part was nicknamed Robinho - as you can imagine he had trick or two!
He took part in the Skill Skool and as a prize we gave him a full kit from the stuff that had been donated, including boots, shin pads and a Liverpool shirt and his reaction was probably the most memorable moment of the whole trip for me.
He was so happy he wrote me a little note before I left which said 'To Rocky (a nickname I acquired while I was out there!) God loves you' and on the back it said 'I love you', which was a bit of tear jerking moment.
The RAF also put together a tournament and I couldn't believe the amount of people that turned up to watch it. There must have been about 2000 people looking on from the sidelines.
I was following a team called the Coastal Kings and so I was ecstatic when they got to the final and eventually won on penalties. Everyone ran onto the pitch at the end and that's another memory that will no doubt stay with me for a very long time.
The whole trip has given me the drive to want to go and travel a bit more and
I'd love to go back next year to see how everyone is getting on and witness the progress that has been made first hand.
It was an unbelievable week and one that I will never forget.
To see how Rocket got on tune into Soccer AM over the next couple of weeks, Saturday's, 9am, Sky Sports 1 & Sky One.
