David Garcia Dapena won the 15th stage of the Tour of Spain as Alberto Contador retained his overall lead, despite taking a tumble. The Spaniard suffered minor injuries after taking a tumble with 40km remaining but managed to rejoin the peleton with the help of his team-mates. Following his back-to-back victories over the weekend, Contador leads the race by over a minute from his Astana colleague Levi Leipheimer. Afteer a crash involving a Milram rider in the neutral zone delayed the start, a a 16-man group broke away early on in the 202 kilometre stage from Cudillero to Ponferrada. Xecobeo rider Garcia Dapena was amongst the leaders before breaking away with 3km remaining to claim his first-ever success in a Grand Tour. Nick Nuyens of Cofidis finished second alongside Juan Manuel Garate from the Quick Step team came third. Contador finished 14 minutes and 23 seconds behind the leaders but safe in the knowledge he would retain the golden jersey. Tuesday's action sees a 186.3kmride from Ponferrada to Zamora. The Vuelta finishes on September 21 in Madrid. Stage 15 result:
