Eighteen meetings confirmed... live!
Sky Sports has announced a schedule for the first seven months of the 2010 greyhound season. The 18 meetings to date begin at Hall Green in Birmingham for the Betfair Prestige meeting on January 19 and include one new track, Kinsley in Yorkshire, where the TV Trophy takes place on Tuesday, June 8. Commenting on the new schedule, Sky Sports' Executive Producer of greyhound racing, Dave Lawrence, said: "We're naturally delighted to announce the schedule for 2010 and I'm particularly excited about adding a new track to our portfolio when we visit Kinsley. "This follows Yarmouth and Doncaster which have both hosted successful TV Trophy nights in recent years. We hope to confirm further dates in the near future." Sky Sports' greyhound coverage for the 2010 season will be presented by Gary Newbon with commentary from Errol Blyth. There will be regular expert analysis from Jonathan Hobbs with Dave Smith and Gary Wiltshire in the betting ring and Darrell Williams the roving reporter. Lawrence explained the way Sky Sports' live coverage of greyhound racing has developed over the last 15 years: "Our live greyhound coverage will continue to preach to the converted, but we're always conscious of educating new viewers and looking at using our expertise to convey the thrill of a live meeting, but with a backdrop of cutting edge betting advice. "We've developed a strong team on either side of the camera in recent seasons and we all share a love of the sport. Hopefully that comes across."
