But home hero Drago lets 4-1 lead slip

Mika Immonen has maintained Europe's two-rack advantage in the Mosconi Cup after whitewashing Earl Strickland 5-0 in Malta. The result of the match, held in the final session, helped Europe move their lead from 3-1 to 5-3 in the race to 11. Friday's other results saw World Cup of Pool Champions Rodney Morris and Shane Van Boening suffer their second defeat of the tournament. The United States pair led 3-1 to Ralf Souquet and Niels Feijen on Thursday before losing 5-3. And there was a repeat 24 hours later as the Europeans edged their side 4-1 ahead. The next match was a quickfire singles tie between Tony Drago and Strickland, with the American coming from 4-1 behind to snatch a 5-4 victory. Home hero Drago never recovered from a foul in the sixth where he failed to hit the 2-ball. America won the next match as well as Johnny Archer and Jeremy Jones clinched a 5-1 triumph over Immonen and Mark Gray.
