Stewart eyes top flight
Jordan Stewart told
Soccer AM that he's desperate to play in the Premier League again.
The Derby County left-back took part in two of his side's three matches against Manchester United in the FA Cup and Carling Cup this season and he revealed he would like to go up against the very best every week.
The ties ultimately ended in disappointment for Derby as they were knocked out of both competitions by the Premier League champions and Stewart admitted he was in awe of Sir Alex Ferguson's men.
"Obviously they're different class," he told
Soccer AM. "They were like the Red Arrows!
"You're looking around and players are moving everywhere. I don't think they have any positions because they're always all over the place."
The former Watford player, who joined the Rams at the end of last season on a free transfer, scored his first goal for the club in November's 3-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday.
Goal of the year
The stunning 30-yard strike which nestled in the top corner has been shortlisted for The Football League's Goal of the Year award along with four others.
However, after seeing his competition on the show, Stewart admitted he was less than confident about his chances of winning.
"I think I'm going to be struggling aren't I," he said.
"I thought mine was decent at the time but having watched those I don't think I'll need to get a speech prepared now!"
Confident
He was however more confident about Derby's chances of staying in the Championship this season.
The Rams are currently 17th in the table and six points off the relegation zone, but Stewart believes their place in the league will be secured if they can win their games in hand.
"Obviously we've got a couple of games in hand but the Championship is a tough league and it's going to be hard," he said.
"If we got a couple more wins though I think we will be safe."
