On Soccer AM...
Friday 24 April 2009 17:07, UK
Jamie Redknapp, Danny Dyer, Tamer Hassan and Maximo Park duo Paul and Lukas!
The sun has finally come out to play, but don't head out too early this Saturday morning because Soccer AM has another cracking line-up, just for you! Joining Helen and Max in the studio first will be Jamie Redknapp! The former Liverpool, Tottenham and England midfield maestro is no stranger to a TV studio as a Sky Sports pundit, and he will be giving us his view on the Premier League title race. Redknapp began his career as a youth player at Tottenham, but turned down a professional contract with the North London side, opting to join Bournemouth where his father, Harry, was manager, instead. Shortly after his 17th birthday he was approached by Kenny Dalglish to join Liverpool and it proved to be too good an opportunity to turn down. In January 1991 he moved to Merseyside in a deal worth £350,000 and went on to play 308 times for the Reds scoring 41 goals in an 11-year career at Anfield. In 1999 he was handed the captains armband by Gerard Houllier, however his greatest moment at the club came in 1995 when Liverpool beat Bolton 2-1 in the League Cup final. A serious knee injury meant he missed out on a memorable climax to the 2000/2001 treble-winning season, and a year later he brought down the curtain on his Anfield career, joining Tottenham on a free transfer. In January 2005 he was signed for a second time by his father when he moved to Southampton, however it was to be a short-lived spell. The club was relegated from the Premier League later that year and Redknapp decided it was time to hang-up his boots. We'll be chatting to him about his career as well as life after football, but most importantly we'll be finding out if he can still kick it when he takes on an Elvis impersonator in the car park! Next down the tunnel will be two proper geezers who are no strangers to the show; we are of course talking about actors Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan! The pair have previously starred alongside each other in Nick Love's, The Football Factory as well as British gangster flick, The Business and they will be talking about their latest big screen outing in City Rats. The multi-stranded drama about a handful of Londoner's whose lives cross paths is a move away from what we're used to seeing them in, and Helen and Max will be asking them about their roles in the film. Needless to say, but there will be lot's of football chat too. Dyer is a West Ham fan, while Hassan supports Millwall, and with both London clubs doing well this season we expect the boys to be in good spirits. Of course no Saturday is complete without some tunes, so Paul and Lukas of Maximo Park will also be in the studio! The indie rockers, who formed in 2001, released their debut album in 2005. A Certain Trigger sold over 300,000 copies and earned them a Mercury Prize nomination in the same year. In April 2007 they released their second album, Our Earthly Pleasures, which was preceded by the album's lead single, Our Velocity. Two years on, and they're back with their new single, The Kids Are Sick Again, while their third album, Quicken The Heart is expected out in May. The boys will be picking up a hat-trick ball on their third appearance on the show and telling us what they have been up to since the last time they were on the orange sofa. Before all of this week's live guests, though, we'll be speaking to Stoke manager Tony Pulis on the phone, while Davie Provan will be joining us live from Hampden Park ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final between Rangers and St Mirren. Plus, we'll have all your usual favourites too, including, Team Mates with Mario Melchiot, Dunfermline's This Is My Club, Small Talk with Rocket, Celtic's Skill Skool, Crossbar Challenge with Wolves, Our Man in a Caff, and Southampton fans in the Luther Blissett stand. And there's more, because we'll also see how Tubes got on when he met Hollywood star Hugh Jackman, and we've got footage of David Beckham and Andy Murray showing us their skills at Wembley Stadium! So tune in to Soccer AM, 9am, Saturday, on Sky Sports 1 and Sky 1 and see all the gang including this week's stunning Soccerette who is an Aberdeen fan!
