First two rounds throw up some big ties in FA Cup of darts
The draw for the opening two rounds of the UK Open has been made - with the 'FA Cup of Darts' kicking off on Thursday live on Sky Sports. The event at Bolton's Reebok Stadium is a unique one in darts with an open draw system and appearance of 31 pub qualifiers summoning up the romance of football's much-loved cup competition. 97 players will be in action in the tournament, which starts on June 4 and will be screened live on Sky Sports. The top 32 players in the PDC rankings, including defending champion James Wade and Phil Taylor, will enter in the third round of the draw, but there are still some fantastic matches to look forward to in the first two. All the tungsten action will be fast and furious in Bolton with eight boards being used simultaneously, and there are plenty of big match-ups early on. In the first round, Alex Roy takes on former world champion Richie Burnett, while last year's beaten finalist, American Gary Mawson, takes on Darren Weaver. Women's champ Anastasia Dobromyslova plays Andy Roberts while Roland Scholten goes up against Derek Williams. In round two, three-time world champion John Part makes his entrance against Mick McGowan, and the man he defeated in the world final two years ago, Kirk Shepherd, looks to find some form against Steve Brown. Impressive PDC newcomer Gary Anderson faces a tough opener as he plays Geordie-born Australian Paul Nicholson, who reached the quarter-finals of the last World Championships.UK Open draw
