Glory and pain for Mysterio

Rey Mysterio successfully defended his Intercontinental title but was helpless to prevent a post-match beat down.

Ziggler and Edge team up on masked Superstar

Rey Mysterio successfully defended his Intercontinental title on SmackDown but paid the price afterwards as he was attacked by both Edge and Dolph Ziggler. Mysterio hit the 619 and splash combination to defeat challenger Chris Jericho and retain the belt before opting against a post-match confrontation with Jericho's tag-team partner Edge. However, Ziggler blindsided the masked man with a surprise attack and then unified tag-team champion Edge hit a spear and the Codebreaker. Jeff Hardy, continuing the fake and counter-fake eye injury saga between him and CM Punk, came to ring for his contest with Kane wearing an eye patch.

Decoy

Although he soon revealed that it was purely a decoy, World Heavyweight Champion Punk got the last laugh by distracting Hardy long enough to allow Kane to pick up the victory. Earlier on in the show, Punk's match with The Great Khali was ruled a no contest after interferences from both Kane and Ranjin Singh. The brash champion had also escalated his war of words with Hardy by mocking his past troubles and cockily producing an eye-drop prescription to excuse his unhelpful performance in last week's tag match. Before Ziggler's attack on main-event star Mysterio, he sneaked a win over John Morrison by grabbing the Friday Night Delight's tights after a smart counter to get the cover. Melina and Eve defeated Michelle McCool and Layla after the English star was rolled up by the cunning Melina. The Hart Dynasty avenged last Friday's loss to Cryme Time when David Hart Smith and Tyson Kidd hit an impressive double-team move after interference from Natalya.
