World Champion locks in the Anaconda Vice forcing Hardy to submit
CM Punk heads into WWE Breaking Point this Sunday with the momentum in his favour after he defeated Matt Hardy in an exciting main event submission match.
In what proved to a physical encounter, both men gave it their all to ensure victory, with a number of near attempts at making their opponent submit.
The emphasis here was on champion CM Punk to prove to the WWE Universe that he could indeed enforce a submission manouvre on his opponent, something we haven't seen him do for a number of years.
With that being said, Punk delivered a vicious kick to the head of Hardy and then locked in the Anaconda Vice move that saw his opponent tap out within seconds of it being applied.
With such an important victory under his belt, CM Punk now goes on to face The Undertaker at WWE Breaking Point in a submission match. With the world heavyweight championship on the line, can Punk go one better and make The Deadman submit?
Also on Smackdown, Finlay squared off against Mike Knox in a Belfast Brawl match which saw both men tear each other apart with weapons in hand. Trash cans and tables were used to each other's advantage in what proved to be a brutal encounter. In the end it was the Irishman Finlay who came out on top, after he struck a shillelagh to the head of his opponent which led to the all important pinfall.
Meanwhile David Hart Smith faced a huge challenge in the form of The Great Khali, however the match never got underway as The Big Red Machine Kane invaded the ring to attack his WWE Breaking Point opponent Khali. After his initial beatdown, Kane fetched a Singapore Cane with intent on inflicting more damage, but Khali regained his stance and executed a Punjabi Plunge to leave Kane lying motionless in the ring.
In tag team action Cryme Time faced the unified tag team champions Chris Jericho and The Big Show in a non-title match up. In an exciting contest which featured several near pinfalls, The Big Show delivered a knockout blow with the right hand to JTG as he hung on the ropes, which sent him crashing back into the ring for Jericho to get the cover and the 1-2-3.
New intercontinental champion John Morrison recorded his second victory in seven days as he took on Charlie Haas in a non-title contest. For the second week in a row The Friday Night Delight fired up the engine and executed his dazzling Starship Pain finisher which proved again to be decider.
The WWE Divas were also in action as Melina faced Layla who was accomponied to the ring by Womans champion Michelle McCool. In the end it was Layla who came out on top after McCool struck Melina in the ribcage with a crutch.
