Kate Dennison set a new British pole vault record of 4.60 metres at the Pedros Cup meeting in Szczecin on Tuesday. Dennison added two centimetres to the performance she achieved at the British Grand Prix in July to clinch a third-place finish at the Polish meeting. The 25-year-old, who was sixth at the world championships, was beaten by Anna Rogowska, the gold medallist from Berlin who cleared 4.70m, with Aleksandra Kiryashova given second on countback after also vaulting 4.60m. Meanwhile, world 1,500 metres silver medallist Lisa Dobriskey lost for the second time in four days when beaten by Christin Wurth-Thomas in a sprint finish. Dobriskey finished 0.32 seconds behind the American, who was fifth in Berlin and clocked a time of four minutes 07.31 seconds. With her track season now ended, Dobriskey will concentrate on winning two important road mile races at the Great North City Games in Newcastle on Saturday and New York's Fifth Avenue event the following weekend. Britain's Robert Tobin record a time of 45.95secs for second place in the 400m, won by UK-based Sudanese athlete Yusif Rabah in 45.64secs.
