Undertaker involved in controversy
The Animal Batista returned to Smackdown on Friday Night and recorded a convincing victory over one half of the unified tag team champions Chris Jericho.
Batista looked to secure victory early on in the match with a Batista Bomb but Jericho countered and locked in The Walls of Jericho, but The Animal managed to escape.
A frustrated Jericho then looked to win the contest by executing a Codebreaker, however that backfired, as Batista caught him in mid-air and delivered a powerful Batista Bomb to secure victory.
After watching his partner lose out to Batista, The Big Show then challenged The Animal to a match next week.
Controversy
Referee Scott Armstrong was interviewed backstage regarding events that took place last Sunday when The Undertaker appeared to be screwed out of the World Heavyweight Championship.
The WWE official explained that he was under strict instructions from his superior to carry out the actions that he did, and with his job on the line, he had no choice but to go through with it.
Smackdown general manager Teddy Long then took to the ring to explain why he double-crossed The Deadman. After admitting that he put together the pre-planned plot, Long then went on to say he had been experiencing tough times of late and had to hold down a steady job.
Upon leaving the ring to a chorus of boos, Long was then intent on leaving the building altogether. However, upon entering his limousine, the doors locked suddenly, and The Undertaker was revealed to be at the wheel. Smoke then filled the passenger compartment as Long panicked and struggled to make an exit. The Undertaker then told Teddy to "Buckle Up" as he drove the limousine out of the arena.
Intercontinental champion John Morrison faced a stern test in the form of Mike Knox. In a close contest, it was The Friday Night Delight who reigned supreme after he struck with a springboard kick to his opponent, and then went on to deliver his superb Starship Pain finishing manouvre.
In tag team action, The Hart Dynasty secured victory over Cryme Time. The match featured several near pinfalls for either side, but in the end it was Tyson Kidd who stepped up and executed a standing reverse suplex on JTG for the one-two-three.
The Great Khali ended up on a stretcher after his bout with Kane. The Big Red Machine knocked out the giant with a brutal chairshot to the head, and then went on to crush Khali's leg with the aid of the steel steps.
Charlie Haas was scheduled to face R-Truth but scotsman Drew MacIntyre came to the ring informing fans that Truth had been involved in an accident backstage. MacIntyre then executed a perfect double-arm DDT on Haas to leave him lying motionless in the ring.
Finally, Melina showed that she has what it takes to become the next Womans champion after she defeated current champion Michelle McCool.
