Wayne Mardle defeated Colin Osborne 6-3 to win Group Five of Championship League Darts.
'Hawaii 501' battled back from 3-2 down in the final to book his place in October's Winners Group in the internet-televised competition.
Having won five games on the bounce in the league phase to reach the last four, Mardle edged out Terry Jenkins 6-5 in a nail-biting semi-final.
He then sealed overall victory with a 94 checkout against Osborne, who had beaten him in the day's opening match at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex.
Confidence boost
"I'm absolutely delighted," Mardle told
www.planetdarts.co.uk.
"Last year I was massively disappointed to lose in the third group and my aim was to make it through at the first time of asking today.
"I've managed to do that, and it's a great confidence boost for me going into the Skybet World Grand Prix soon."
Osborne will have to come back for a fourth attempt at qualifying for the next round of the event.
'The Wizard' had defeated Mark Dudbridge 6-3 in the semi-finals having only sneaked into the knockout stages ahead of Denis Ovens on legs difference.
After missing out in the final of Group Four on Tuesday, Kevin Painter was elimated from the tournament. Peter Manley, who was playing for the first time on Wednesday, was also knocked out.
