William Regal warns Christian that his reign as champion is over
British Brawler William Regal made a statement of intent to Christian after watching him successfully retain his title against number one contender Zack Ryder on the latest instalment of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
Ryder appeared to be confident of leaving Oklahoma with gold around his waist, but in the end it proved to be a step too far for the young superstar as his best efforts were bettered by champion Christian.
Both men countered each others finishing maneuvers and were also close to securing victory with close near pinfalls in an enthrawling main event match.
In the end, it was Christian who got the all important pinfall after he executed the Killswitch maneuvre on Ryder to secure victory.
But Christian had no time to celebrate his successful title defence as Regal took to the ring and insisted he would become the next number one contender and then go on to become the ECW champion.
Rivalries
On the Abraham Washington show, The Celtic Warrior Sheamus and Shelton Benjamin refused to see eye to eye as both men exchanged words that led to a brawl between the two which security struggled to break up.
Fan favourite Yoshi Tatsu was in action against Paul Burchill who was accompanied to the ring by sister Katie Lea. In what proved to be an exciting contest, Tatsu continued his singles winning streak courtesy of a pinpoint kick to the head of Burchill.
Dominance
Earlier in the night, William Regal looked on as his associates Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov destroyed local competition in the form of Dustin Brady and Brandon Young. Standing over their beatdown opponents, the dominant pairing look to be unstoppable.
Who will Christian defend his ECW championship against next and will Regal fulfill his promise of becoming the number one contender again? Do not miss ECW next Thursday night at 11.30pm exclusively on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3.
