Search for a new club is on hold, says Volz
Moritz Volz told
Soccer AM he will return to football, but only once he has fully recovered from all his injury problems.
The former Arsenal and Fulham defender has been out of action since January with Osteitis Pubis, an inflammation of the pubic bone which affects the pelvis.
Despite leaving Fulham in the summer, Volz has been unable to find a new club and he revealed he has been forced to put his search on hold until he can prove his fitness.
"I spoke to a lot of clubs in the summer but the thing with this injury is that you can't really say how much longer you're going to be (out for) and that put a lot of clubs off," he said.
"So since I've seen the doctors and they've told me 'it's going to take a few more weeks but we can't tell you how long' I've decided it's no point speaking to clubs right now.
"Instead, I'll focus on my rehab, try and get back as soon as I can and once I'm able to train and play I'm sure something will come up."
Disappointment
Despite his positive attitude the defender couldn't hide his disappointment about being without a club and he explained why the injury is taking him so long to overcome.
"I'm desperate to play again," he said. "This injury came at a very bad time for me.
"I played up until January for Ipswich then got injured. I tried to get back as soon as possible for the rest of the season and had injections and operations but never managed to get back into the team properly.
"I hoped that it would be cured over the summer break and went back for pre-season with Fulham for four weeks, but it was just really painful and I wasn't able to play at 100 per cent.
"I sought advice from some doctors and they shut me down and put me into this rehab place and now I'm locked away there in Germany.
"It is a very common injury which happens to a lot of players and it's hard to shake off. But I'm starting to get better so hopefully I'll be able to play again soon."
