A slip from Beth Tweddle left her unable to reach the final of the uneven bars at the Gymnastics World Championships.
2007 world champion slips trying to pull off move named after her
Beth Tweddle has failed to reach the final of the uneven bars at the Gymnastics World Championships after slipping during her performance at London's O2 Arena on Wednesday.
The 2007 world champion, who was trying to execute the 'Tweddle' move named after her, finished the routine but could only score 13.850 which left her out of the top-eight qualifying positions in 11th.
Tweddle did reach the floor final, however, but only after recovering from a near fall in her opening sequence - the 24-year-old managing to produce a routine high in difficulty and post 14.075, the fourth highest score.
Meanwhile, Olympic finalist Becky Downie qualified for the all-around final in 20th position despite an error on the beam.
The 17-year-old, who was 12th in the Olympic final in Beijing, overshot her landing and flew off the mattress but her overall score of 53.775 was enough to see her through.
Becky Wing, also 17, made it through as she finished just above her team-mate in 19th for a place in her first international all-around final.
Marissa King also reached the finals, having been in contention for the vault final after her score of 13.850 put her in third place after two rounds; however, the 18-year-old eventually dropped down to 10th.
