Christian topples surprise opponent on ECW

Unified Tag Team champion Chris Jericho took a trip to the Land of the Extreme in a bid to seek out talent for Team Smackdown ahead of the Bragging Rights event this Sunday. But Jericho's scouting mission never went according to plan as general manager Tiffany requested Chris to leave the arena after he failed to request permission to scout for talent in the first instance. After refusing to leave, Tiffany insisted that Jericho could stay but then ordered him to face ECW champion Christian in a non-title main event match up later in the evening. Both men recorded several near pinfalls in what was to prove a surprising but exciting main event encounter. In the end, Captain Charisma delivered a devastating Killswitch to record the one-two-three over Jericho, who will not be returning to ECW again anytime soon I imagine. Also this week on ECW, Yoshi Tatsu squared off against Zack Ryder in an ECW championship number one contenders match. The Japanese Superstar had an impeccable winning streak in his favour heading into this encounter, and must have fancied his chances against young gun Zack Ryder.

Body drop

The match culminated in Ryder attempting to body drop Tatsu over the top rope, but Tatsu landed on the ring apron and hit back with a devastating big kick on Ryder, and followed that up with a springboard splash which was more than enough to score the resulting pinfall. Yoshi Tatsu will now go on to face Christian next week with the ECW title on the line. Sheamus faced off against local competitor J.T. Quinn in a match that ended as a No Contest. The Irishman had several opportunities at picking up the victory against the amateur but refused to do so, after he pulled his opponent up from a potential match winning three count. However, before Sheamus could inflict further misery on his opponent, Shelton Benjamin interrupted proceedings and attacked the Irishman in the ring. The feud between these two men is now at boiling point, so just when will bitter rivals Sheamus and Shelton face one another in a match? Meanwhile, Paul Burchill thought he was on the verge of unmasking The Hurricane, but his attempts failed as what can only be described as a look-a-like Hurricane took to the ring, which made Burchill even more irate. The real Hurricane then approached Burchill in the ring from behind and beatdown the Englishman with a Hurricane version of a Singapore Cane.
