Doubles specialist to quit at the end of the year
European mixed doubles champion Donna Kellogg has announced she will hang up her badminton racket at the end of the year.
The 31-year-old, who partnered Anthony Clark to secure the continental crown last year, will bring the curtain down on her top-class badminton career with the BWF World Super Series Masters final in Malaysia next month.
The Derby-based doubles specialist made her England debut at just 19 and has been one of the country's top players ever since.
Kellogg, who has won European Championship and Commonwealth Games golds as well as 11 England National titles, has experienced particularly profitable partnerships with Joanne Goode, Gail Emms and more recently Clark.
Her retirement means that Kellogg and Clark, who were also runners-up in the 2006 World Championships, will be unable to defend their European crown in Manchester next year.
"I have already won several European titles and there are always major championships just around the corner," said Kellogg.
"I had decided some time ago that the end of the year was probably going to be the right time to stop.
"I have had a brilliant career and I am proud of all the medals and titles I have won."
