Coach to care for Pneumonia-stricken son
Sheffield Steelers have confirmed that head coach David Matsos will not be behind the bench for Wednesday night's Elite League clash in Cardiff after his son was taken ill on Monday morning.
22-month-old George Matsos is currently in intensive care after being admitted to hospital with severe Pneumonia which has attached the lungs.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Cardiff, Matsos said: "George is very sick boy right now and we are all praying that he comes through this, we can't thank the hospital staff enough for everything they are doing."
Steelers general manager Mike O'Connor has asked that the Matsos' family privacy is respected at this time and for all enquiries to be directed to either the Steelers office, or the press officer, David Simms.
"This is a horrible time for all, especially Dave and Sandy and all of our thoughts are with them right now," said O'Connor.
