Darryl Fitton was the big-name casualty of the second day of action at the Lakeside, as the fourth seed was dumped out of the BDO World Championship.
After a number of other big names crashed out on day one, Fitton joined the exodus in the first round as he was beaten 3-1 by Dave Chisnall.
Fitton was a big fancy heading into the Lakeside but he could not live up to his pre-tournament billing as he had to make way at the first time of asking.
There were no such problems for number two seed Scott Waites as he lost just one leg in crushing Scotsman Paul Hanvidge 3-0 in his first round match.
Waites, boosted by reaching the final of the Grand Slam of Darts last month, will now be a big danger in the tournament going forward.
Another seed was sent packing as number 13 Mark Barilli lost 3-1 against Tony West, while number ten seed Martin Atkins was upset by Paul Carter.
John Henderson will face Waites in round two after the giant Scotsman defeated Dutch Mareno Michels 3-1.
