Rated-R Superstar dominates Monday night RAW
Chaos broke out on the latest installment of Friday Night SmackDown as Royal Rumble winner Edge returned to host the Rated-R talk show that is The Cutting Edge.
After seven months on the sidelines, the nine-time World champion returned to the WWE circuit this past Sunday Night, shocking everyone by winning the much-anticipated Royal Rumble Match.
On SmackDown, Edge spoke about his Achilles tendon injury, but more importantly the fact he defied doctors odds, by placing himself under an intense recovery programme, that has seen him make his return to the ring much sooner than expected.
Now that the Rated-R Superstar has secured himself a main event spot at WrestleMania, he is currently in the process of deciding which champion to take on at 'The Grandest Stage Of Them All'.
This week, Edge intended to call out the current World Champion The Undertaker, but before the Royal Rumble winner could call out The Deadman, Chris Jericho surprisingly took to the ring to confront the Rated-R Superstar.
A bitter Jericho insisted that Edge did not deserve to win the Royal Rumble match, claiming that he was in-fact more worthy of an opportunity at WrestleMania than his former tag team partner.
Then, CM Punk along with his straightedge society came to the ring to confront both Edge and Jericho. Punk claimed that he will go on to become World Heavyweight Champion for the fourth time by winning the upcoming Elimination Chamber Match.
After Punk's statement of intent, the arena plunged into darkness unexpectedly. When the lights returned, The Undertaker was stood in the middle of the ring.
Chaos then ensued as the Rated-R Superstar speared Jericho whilst The Deadman executed a devastating chokeslam on straightedge superstar CM Punk. The Ultimate opportunist and The Phenom then fixed their sights on one another as SmackDown went off the air.
Qualifiers
Also this week on SmackDown, a series of matches took place to determine who would make it to the upcoming Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The Friday Night Delight John Morrison secured his place at WWE's upcoming pay-per-view by defeating Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre and The Big Red Machine Kane in a Triple Threat Match.
Chris Jericho and R-Truth both gave themselves a shot at the gold as both were successful against their respective opponents Matt Hardy and Mike Knox.
Batista surprisingly gave up his opportunity of a World Title shot by stepping out of the ring to award CM Punk victory by count-out. The Animal would appear to be focused on another matter, but what that is remains a mystery for now.
Finally, the master of the 6-1-9 Rey Mysterio made sure he would be part of the upcoming Elimination Chamber Match, recording a hard fought victory over Dolph Ziggler.
In two weeks time, The Undertaker will square off against John Morrison, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio at the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event which comes your way exclusively LIVE on Sky Box Office.
ECW
In ECW news, WWE chairman Mr. McMahon made a special appearance on this week's edition of ECW. The chairman informed the WWE Universe of his future plans for WWE's extreme brand.
In three weeks, ECW will come to an end, but a brand new, innovative, never-before-seen programme will take over in the same timeslot. McMahon claimed it'll be "the next evolution of WWE; the next evolution of television history."
WWE SmackDown returns next Friday Night from 10pm exclusively on Sky Sports 3 and in high definition on Sky Sports HD3.
