Players announced for 2010 NBC Heads-Up Championship

Picking a winner out of a poker "Who's Who" could be Mission Impossible....

Arguably the most prestigious heads-up tournament on TV is almost upon us again, and the 64 players who will try to wrestle the crown from defending champion, Huck Seed are almost set. Sky Poker will have their hopes riding on former presenter Kara Scott, who is making her debut in the Championship this year. The official draw will be made on 4th March and once the four brackets are set the bookmakers will choose their favourite. However, picking a winner from a line up as tough as this is going to be tough, with the world's finest players all in attendance. The tournament is representative of the whole poker scene right now, and will be a tantalising clash between old school and new generation, man versus woman and online pros against live event giants. Representing the established players are the likes of Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan, who have won an incredible 31 WSOP bracelets between them, five of those in the Main Event itself. Modern day winners of the world's biggest tournament will be on show too, with Peter Eastgate, Jamie Gold, Joe Hachem, Jerry Yang and 2009 champion Joe Cada all setting out to prove they are among the very best in the world. There's the chance for sweet revenge for some though, with Dennis Phillips and Darvin Moon among those looking to add a first major title to their poker resumes. The online poker community sees some of the biggest players joined by newer adversaries; Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius are almost venerable in comparison to the likes of Jason Mercier, Dario Minieri and Bertrand Grospellier. The women are out in force too, with Kara Scott being joined by 2007 WSOPE Champion Annette Obrestad, Vanessa Rousso, Annie Duke and arguably the best all-round female of them all - Jennifer Harman - taking their seats to show the men a thing or two. Then you have some of the biggest reputations in the game taking on relative newcomers. Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Allen Cunningham and John Juanda will be looking to show 2009's form men - JP Kelly, Pieter De Korver and Eric Baldwin to name just three - that class is permanent. Here are the 57 players whose identity is know; 7 more players will qualify for the tournament through online qualifiers.
